The Astraea Family
The Astraea Family are a group of powerful swordsmen that have only recently branched out into other types of weapons such as lances & shields. Generally, the Astraea began as single-handed swordsmen, that primarily utilized arming swords or broadswords to get their point across. Gradually, the Astraea dispersed into utilizing rapiers, claymores, and broadswords as their primary choices of weapon, yielding them great results. In the years after Arthur Pendragon, the founding father of the Astraea School System, the individuals with their chosen weapons began to hone and master three quintessential Schools of Astraea, that have been passed down generation after generation, improved upon with each generation from the basics that were necessary in the past, to impress with advanced variations to adapt to changing times.
Prominent Astraea that have existed in history are the following:
Arthur Pendragon [EC]
[First Generation Astraea, Dragon School Patriarch, Hero of the World, First Arcadian Contact, Inheritor of Gandalfr]
Artorias Astraea [EC]
[Second Generation Astraea, Lion School Patriarch, Gawain to Arthur Pendragon, King of Rayner's Age]
Rayner Astraea [PC - Scorpio]
[Third Generation Astraea, Lion School Patriarch, Gawain to Artorias Astraea, King of Jonathan's Age]
Jonathan Pendragon [PC - DaisukeTysukiyomi]
[Fourth Generation Astraea, Inheritor of Gandalfr, Dragon School Patriarch, Youngest King]
The three schools were divided by the according attributes with Astraea.
Lion School
Members of the Lion School were selected for their power & body type. Bigger builds meant that harnessing one's power through upper-body motions alone could be possible, strengthening the legs only for the sake of blasting forward with strong, powerful linear motions. These intimidation tactics made up the forefront of the Astraea Family's army and rose their family to prominence, due to their valorous attitudes & bravery on the battlefield. These individuals with charismatic, leader-like attributes would be selected as the vanguard. Most of the Lion School's members have been primarily male, due to the fact that males have a higher probability of having such a build-type. The Lion School members developed counters to long-ranged attacks, such as those of a spiritual nature, by developing Devour & Blast, ways to mitigate the damage they receive. Heavy Armor is typically a requirement of these members and equipping claymores & other BFSW are very feasible with their weapons. Variations increase the pressure of the Lion School, such as through dual-wielding instead of single-wielding to double the amount of attacks capable, or to create an existing presence of an additional attack pattern (Wildebeest).
Falcon School
Slender builds are more desirable for the Falcon School. This School was originally designed as a failsafe for the Astraea who did not have the correct body-type or talent as the Lion or Dragon had respectively. Instead, the Falcon School was geared towards the lithe, who can better use their lower-body to enhance their upper-body blows. They manipulate speed, distance, and dexterously move around their opponent. They overwhelm with number, instead. Developments of alternative schools typically affect the abilities of Falcon School, especially in the faculties of manipulating distance (Pegasus), overwhelming with multiple attacks (Thalasseus), and so forth. Falcons are primarily female due to the natural build of Falcons, with lacking upper-bodies. Falcon practitioners are experts at the spear & the rapier, though primarily stick to the rapier. One crux of the Falcon School is their ability to align their hand perfectly parallel to the ground, while holding their rapier. This bending of the carpal bones is discomforting to the average human who would hold their hand in that position, but this ensures delivery of the straightest route possible for combative purposes. Thus, Falcons are usually tested by seeing if their bones can properly hold such a position for long periods at a time.
Dragon School
The Dragon School is defined by the natural born prodigious talent of the individuals who can access it. Dragons have a tremendous affinity for the sword and the appearance of a Dragon is heralded akin to the appearance of a Swordmeister, as the Swordmeisters are always destined to become Dragons, though not all Dragons are Swordmeisters. A Dragon naturally manipulates their whole body akin to a Falcon and are not entirely lackluster in the capacity of strength-control & pressure gameplay such as a Lion. However, Dragons do not typically manipulate distance or overwhelm with multiple attacks as a Falcon does, nor do they pride themselves on incredibly large area of effect attacks that can destroy a pesky Speedster. They pride themselves on perfection with the blade, able to disarm individuals with relative ease, oppressively parry an individual by a vast, unbridgeable gap in physical skill, and ability to access even the soul of a target. They are best known for their affinity for Ordinal Scale, an entirely unique soul-based attack that only Dragons can achieve. This ability is unique inherent to Dragons in the Astraea Clan, and are not transcended merely by the appearance of a Pendragon. Gryphons are a variation of Dragon that are achieved from hard work, through combinations of Lions & Falcons, just as their mythical beast would suggest.
Pendragon
A Pendragon describes an Astraea at the pinnacle of their school.
There can exist only six Pendragon at any time.
This alludes to Astraea, the daughter of Astraeus, in their elegy in the Battle against Satan.
