Katanas
Katanas were originally created in the Wei region of Chugoku Tenku, during the warring period. Wielded by samurai like Miyamoto Musashi & Sasaki Kojiro, their talents in utilizing this specific weapon is what made it so popular. Yatogari especially were responsible for the fame of this weapon, brought to fruition by Himura, Tsubaki - more commonly known as Yatogari, Tsubaki. She was the first Yatogari, and later known as their patron God -- the Yatokami.
Structure
Blade: Reverse blade's upon the back to avoid hurting people, and notably dull. Front blade is sharp enough to cut someone in half. Curved edge at the end leads into a kissaki, and the pattern along said edge is a Hamon.
Handle: Used to hold the weapon.
Handguard: Also known as the Tsuba. This is mostly self-explanatory.
Scythes
Originate from the 'kusari' in the Shu & Wu regions of Chugoku Tenku, as smaller scythes utilized for farming and toiling in the fields by peasants. They would later be extended via. polearms. They were eventually be brought over to the Mainland, also known as modern day Teikoku.
Structure
Beard: The 'nook' between the scythe's blade and the top-most of its shaft.
Grip: Where the scythe's normally held.
Tang: The back of the scythe's blade - parallel to the snath.
Chine: The inner, sharp part of the scythe's blade, used to cut off heads.
Heel: Scythe's equivalent to the katana's reverse blade.
Chakram
Akin to mini-scythes with just the sickle / blade part. Has a far smaller handle. Most reputable individual for using them is Korami, a man from the Dawn Brigade.
