Culture of the Rising
The Rising's citizens are prideful, honorable, and respectful. Seiza builds up posture & discipline in its swordsmen; dogeza shows the sincerity of one's intentions for repent and forgiveness. The art of the samurai & katana koryu has been most expanded upon in this country. While not as martially impressive as Chugoku Tenku, they are indisputably the best at the use of the katana and a whole clan of individuals dedicated to the katana will tell you so.
Honor [名誉]
The term 'meiyo' refers to one's honor. When in a duel, one's honor is put on the line for the sake of proving something or another. They believe in one on one duels to settle large wars to avoid the needless loss of life. Even in a culture of Bearers, they believe that they can avoid the expenditure of multiple Bearer-lives if they were to just duel it out with the strongest of the other's country. However, there is trending ruthlessness in their practice, in order to prove a point. Just like the Dragonblessed, one's whole family may be slaughtered for dishonoring another's. Duels are often settled with blades and any weapon is acceptable.
Bushido [武士道]
The warrior's way, the Bushido is a concept that refers to soldiers, warriors, and inherited nobility. It is the temperament of a warrior, with numerous codes that individuals were to follow. Interpretations of Bushido may differ, but most seek out death honorably in the service of their master. It is the chivalry of the Rising and is a book of code about how to live life with honor and virtue. For example, the code of Bushido (specific to the Rising) respects women and men, tolerating them equally. This comes with a general death of the concubine-system. Furthermore, it is not uncommon to be led by a woman in the Rising. Killing is often a better option than maiming, torturing, or raping. Thus, the Bushido tells one to not have prisoners, meaning losing against a samurai will usually end up in the loser's execution. When not in the presence of others, samurai may choose to let their defeated opponent go, if they feel as though they respect their opponent as an honorable fighter who deserves another chance.
Sakura Stepping [桜踏み込み]
An intolerable act, should one step on sakura blossoms, it is seen as the coming of bad luck. One who steps on sakura blossoms is seen to be disrespecting the culture of the Rising and the culture of the Sakura Kingdom. Those who frequent this act completely opt out of benefits from the Rising. The World Trees, when touched by the Rising, often will sprout sakura blossoms, and thusly it represents a life-vein for all of the Rising.
The Land of Songs & Sakura
The great Land of the Rising has always been exalted by the world to be one of the most powerful kingdoms in existence when it was around. As the dominating force of western Kyaal for many centuries before the split with the Dragonblessed, the Rising were powerful and active deities that led their citizens to heights greater than any could aspire to reach alone. They acted as guides rather than directors. Now, they live on the Continent of Onhoku. Whether its name is Teikoku or Yamato, this land flourishes with lively sakura blossoms, has a mild, spring-like culture, and a traditionally Edo-culture. The people are well-spirited always, as if a trademark of theirs. Their land is easy to access and is not very defensible, but their land is fertile, bountiful with natural resources, and has been far less harvested compared to Kyaal. They boast great natural resources, such as cloudsteel and even their own deposits of Getarun, which was said to be found only in the Amazon. Their southeast seas have rich deposits of seastone, a resource used to construct the ancient underwater city of Atlantis.
They have always since held a strong hand over the happenings in Onhoku. Constantly rising to the occasion (get it?), the citizens of the Rising are a proud people that look out for one another. They have a culture of noodle-eating and have many lands dedicated to soba.
Sakura Kingdom
The opposite of the Yomi, the Sakura Kingdom is the section of Heaven commanded by the Progenitor God - Izanagi. This Heavenly spot flourishes boundless sakura blossoms, in part due to the Divinity of Sakura possessed by Izanagi himself. The Kingdom is often said to boast Senbonzakura (thousands of cherry trees).
There is nothing like being sprayed by Sakura.
The judgement of the Senbonzakura determines whether one is of goodwill or is of malicious villainous intent.
Evil spirits are exorcised by the rings of Sakura.
Both men and women are judged fairly and equally by the Senbonzakura.
The symbol of the sakura is thusly, the symbol of Izanagi himself.
Guarded by four Tori Gates commanded by the Four Heavenly Kings, the Sakura Kingdom of the Heavens is said to be the most beautiful of them all, envied by even the Archangels.
Notoriously, it is the hardest section of Heaven to invade. Those who make it to the Sakura Kingdom often do not want to leave, for they are able to frolic and make merry all they'd like, with sake, tea, sakura blossoms, and beautiful spring-like weather. An artificial Sun made by Amaterasu herself shines down on the Sakura Kingdom.
It is the dream of Izanagi to see his people experience such a beautiful Kingdom in the Mortal Realm.
